Mathology ("the app", "we", "our") is a K-12 math practice app you can use in a browser or as an iOS or Android app. It is operated by Marg Tech LLC. This page explains what information we collect, why, who processes it, and how to delete it.
The short version:
- No account needed. Every grade and topic works without signing in, and we store no personal information about guests.
- Signing in is optional. It saves your progress so it follows you across devices. We get your name, email, and profile photo from Google.
- You can delete your account and everything saved with it from inside the app at any time.
No ads. No analytics. No selling your data. No tracking across other apps or sites.
1. Who we are
Mathology is made by Marg Tech LLC, based in New Jersey, United States. Contact us at margtechllcsupport@gmail.com with any privacy question.
2. What we collect
2.1 If you use Mathology without signing in
We store no personal information about you on our servers. To create practice questions, the app sends the grade, topic, and difficulty level you picked to our server. That request does not include a name, email, account ID, or anything else that identifies you.
2.2 If you sign in with Google
- Display name, email address, and profile photo URL — from your Google account, shown in the app's account menu.
- A Firebase user ID — a random identifier that links you to your saved progress.
We never receive your Google password. Sign-in is handled entirely by Google.
2.3 Practice data (only when signed in)
- Progress for each topic — grade, topic, score, number of questions answered, current level, and when you last practiced.
- Recent wrong answers — the question, the answer you gave, the correct answer, and when. We keep up to your 50 most recent mistakes and delete older ones automatically.
When you're signed in, the app summarizes your recent mistakes into short notes (for example, "fractions: confused 3/4 and 1/2") and sends them along with question requests, so new questions can target what you're working on. These notes are sent without your name, email, or user ID.
2.4 Stored on your device
The app keeps a few things in your browser's or device's local storage so it works smoothly: your daily practice streak, your sound on/off setting, the grade and topic you were last practicing, a cache of upcoming practice questions, and, if you're signed in, your sign-in session (managed by Firebase). None of this is sent to us. Signing out clears the last grade and topic and the sign-in session.
2.5 What we do not collect
- No camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, or health data.
- No payment information — the app is free with no in-app purchases.
- No advertising identifiers, ad networks, analytics, or crash-reporting services.
- No cross-app or cross-site tracking.
3. Why we collect it
- To save your progress and make it available on any device you sign in on.
- To create practice questions that fit your grade, topic, and level, and target recent mistakes.
- To keep the service running and prevent abuse — our server limits how many question requests can come from one network address, and our hosting provider keeps standard server logs.
4. Who processes your data
We do not sell or share your data. These providers process it on our behalf so the app can work:
- Google Firebase — sign-in (Firebase Authentication) and saved progress (Cloud Firestore). See Firebase privacy and the Google Privacy Policy.
- Google Gemini API — generates practice questions. It receives the grade, topic, level, and (when signed in) the mistake-summary notes described above, and nothing that identifies you.
- Vercel — hosts the web app and our question server. Vercel logs IP addresses, browser type, and request times for security and reliability. See Vercel privacy.
5. How long we keep it
- Account and practice progress — until you delete your account or reset your progress.
- Wrong-answer history — your 50 most recent mistakes; older ones are deleted automatically.
- Server logs — kept by Vercel for a limited period (typically about 30 days), then deleted automatically.
- Data on your device — until you clear the app's data or uninstall it.
6. Deleting your account and data
In the app
- Sign in, then tap your name in the top-right corner.
- Tap Delete my account.
- Solve the quick parent check and tap Delete Account.
This permanently deletes your Mathology account (name, email, profile photo, and user ID) along with all saved progress and wrong-answer history. You can keep using the app as a guest afterwards.
To delete only your practice data and keep your account, use Reset All Progress on the home screen instead.
By email
If you no longer have the app installed, email margtechllcsupport@gmail.com from the email address you signed in with, with the subject "Mathology account deletion". We will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days and confirm by email. The only thing that may remain afterwards is Vercel's server logs, which expire on their own as described above.
7. Your rights
- Access or export — email us and we'll send a copy of what we hold within 30 days.
- Delete — see section 6.
- Withdraw consent — sign out at any time; the app keeps working as a guest.
If you are in the EU, UK, or California, you have additional rights under GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA, including the right to complain to your data protection authority. Email us to exercise any of them.
8. Children
Mathology is built for students from Kindergarten through Grade 12, including children under 13. It has no ads, no chat, no in-app purchases, and no third-party analytics.
- Without signing in, children can use every part of the app, and we collect no personal information from them.
- Signing in requires a Google account. Children under 13 should sign in only with a parent's permission — for example, using a Google account a parent manages through Google Family Link.
If you're a parent and believe your child signed in without your permission, email us and we will delete the account and its data within 30 days.
9. International transfers
Data is processed on Google's and Vercel's infrastructure, primarily in the United States. If you use the app from outside the United States, your data is transferred there for processing.
10. Security
All traffic between the app and our servers uses HTTPS. Database access is restricted by security rules so only you can read or write your own progress. The key for the question-generation service is held on our server and never sent to your device.
11. Changes to this policy
We'll update this page when we add features or change how we handle data, and update the "Last updated" date above. We'll mention material changes inside the app.
